MARS: Keeping Military Heritage Rolling

The Military Armoured Restoration Society (MARS) is a hands-on heritage initiative of Taskforce Veteran, operating from the Scheyville Veterans, Families & Communities Centre. MARS is dedicated to preserving Australia’s military history by restoring retired armoured and non-armoured vehicles for commemorative use and public education.

Preserving History, Building Purpose

MARS restores military vehicles to working condition, giving them new life in Anzac Day paradescommunity events, and educational displays. These vehicles become living artefacts—tools for storytelling, remembrance, and connection.

Veteran-Led, Community-Focused

More than a restoration project, MARS is a space where veterans apply their ADF skills, collaborate with peers, and find renewed purpose. It’s a place for mateship, craftsmanship, and contribution, where the community can engage with veterans and learn about Australia’s military legacy.

Why It Matters

  • Preserves military heritage through active restoration
  • Engages veterans in meaningful, skill-based projects
  • Connects communities with Australia’s defence history
  • Supports wellbeing through teamwork and shared purpose
