On August 24th, 2025, Taskforce Veteran had the pleasure of hosting the Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia (JDCA) at our Scheyville site—a day that beautifully blended automotive elegance with rich historical storytelling and community spirit.
From 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, over 38 JDCA members and 15+ classic Jaguar vehicles graced our grounds, turning heads and sparking conversations. The club’s advance party arrived early at 8:00 AM, setting up a delightful morning tea featuring homemade cakes and biscuits that added a warm, personal touch to the day.
A Journey Through Time
The visit included a comprehensive presentation covering:
- The history of Taskforce Veteran and the Scheyville site
- Our museum vehicles, their specifications, and stories
- The evolving relationship between TFV/MARS and the local community
- Future plans for the museum to reflect the site’s military, migrant, and broader historical significance
MARS personnel were stationed throughout the buildings to answer questions, and a full guided tour was led by our team, offering guests a deeper understanding of the site’s legacy.
A Special Connection
One of the most touching moments came when a JDCA member shared that she was born at the Scheyville migrant camp—bringing a deeply personal connection to the visit. Several JDCA members were also locals, including a surprise guest: the wife of MARS Committee member Alex Brincat, who joined friends for the ride in a Jaguar. Her enthusiastic endorsement of the Jaguar’s comfort and speed may have sparked a new automotive interest in Alex!
Generosity and Gratitude
The JDCA’s generosity was felt in many ways. They donated a beautiful stainless steel urn to our facility, and we were pleasantly surprised by additional contributions made through our website. These gestures underscore the club’s genuine interest in supporting our mission.
The visit from the Jaguar Drivers Club was more than just a car show—it was a celebration of shared history, community, and generosity. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to welcoming them back soon.
— Craig Robinson, Director, Taskforce Veteran
After departing Scheyville, the JDCA members enjoyed lunch at Glenberie RSL, rounding off a memorable day.
Looking Ahead
We believe a special relationship has been formed between Taskforce Veteran and the JDCA. We would be honoured to host future JDCA events and continue building this meaningful connection.
